A video clip has gone viral after a Baltimore restaurant supervisor kicked out a Black girl and her son citing the boy’s outfit.
Marcia Grant is proven being advised by the supervisor of the Ouzo Bay restaurant that she has to depart as a result of the boy’s athletic shorts violated the restaurant’s gown code. A white little one dressed equally was allowed to remain.
“Unfortunately we do have a dress code,” the supervisor says to Grant. “Um, if you, you know, if you have some non-athletic shorts.”
The supervisor claimed that the white little one was not carrying athletic shorts.
“I’m sorry, I would love for you to be able to come back and eat here,” the supervisor says.
“So you’re telling me my son can’t eat here because he has on athletic stuff?” Grant replied.
“No, no, no, just the shorts,” the supervisor replied. “It is part of our dress code.”
The Atlas Restaurant Group, which owns Ouzo Bay, mentioned in a press release in response that the supervisor has been positioned on indefinite depart.
“We are sickened by this incident,” the assertion learn. “We sincerely apologize to Marcia Grant, her son and everyone impacted by this painful incident.”
Ouzo Bay additionally reversed its gown code and allowed kids below the age of 12 to be exempt to the restrictions.
“We know we failed in this instance and sincerely hope to be afforded the opportunity to meet with Marcia Grant and her son, who both deserved better,” learn the assertion.
The Baltimore Solar reported that Grant couldn’t be reached for remark.
